Big Brother.

Papaw carrying Mason in to meet his little sister.
Just looking to see what daddy is holding.

Saying "Baby Sister"
Little sister got Mason a gift!
Opening the gift...
Pork Chop from Toy Story, an airplane, and a motorcycle...
little sister did great picking out his gift.
Mason showing Mimi his new toy.

the arrival.

I was scheduled to be induced on August 30...which made me 39 weeks.
I didn't think I would make it, but everyone kept their fingers crossed.
I just did not want to go in labor in Springfield for numerous reasons.
Since Heath had to work Monday (August 29th)...I stayed in Springfield with him,
and my parents & Heath's mom met us in Springfield.
Tuesday morning around 4 am, we (Heath, Mimi, and me) headed to Kansas.
Papaw and Memaw waited till around 6 to leave so Mason could sleep.
We arrived at the hospital right before 7 am. I filled out all my paperwork, and
was put in a room.
After getting the IV's hooked up, the doctor came in about 8:10 to
check me and break my water.
I was dilated 4 cm...but I hadn't felt a contraction.
Even though the nurse said I was having contractions.
Since my first labor & delivery was only 3-4 hours,
the doctor informed me to take the epidural now if I
planned on it.
I started the pitocin.
And my nurse contacted the anesthesiologist...
in a couple minutes I was getting an epidural.
Around that time I started feeling the contractions...
I went from not feeling any contractions to strong contractions.
...the bad part the epidural wasn't working....and the pitocin was.
With pitocin I don't have time to go from contractions every now and then...then
contractions getting closer...the contractions just hit me all at once.
The anesthesiologist comes back in to check on my epidural.
He decides to just start over instead of trying to "fix" the one I had.
He does a spinal epidural...which is different than the first one.
(all this is less than a 30 minute period)
After he leaves, the nurses decides to check me.
I am 10 cm!
Heath asked her why the first epidural didn't work...
and I quote what she said "because she is going like a bat out of hell"
She leaves to call the doctor in.
Doctor has time to prep...
the nurse tells me to try to push just to make sure I can.
The doctor is ready...two pushes...
and Miss Hadley is here at 9:55 AM.
She weighed 7lbs 8 ounces.
She was 18 inches.
...and she hardly made a cry
(unlike brother who screamed & screamed!)
I don't think we had time to blink before Little Miss arrived...
the morning went by so fast, I think we were all amazed.

Just Mason...

Mason's new Woody & Buzz table.
Little moments that I love.
We have been cuddling up every morning for a few minutes.
I love this time together.
A picture I found from fishing the other night...
We had to take the gun with us...and I asked Mason why...
he said "to shoot a buck"

Little Miss.

It is hard to believe that I am 38 weeks today!
In one week (at the latest) we will be holding our
sweet baby girl.
I am feeling fine...other than the typical pregnancy stuff...
my energy is limited, the heartburn starts at night, and I am up
peeing every couple hours...but other than that I really
can't complain.
On August 11th, I was 1 cm dilated and 60% effaced.
On August 18th, I was 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced.
I go back to the doctor on Thursday for my last appointment,
so I am curious to see if I am progressing more.
Around 37 weeks.
 38 weeks.

Gone fishin'

Heath found a small lake that was close to us in Springfield.
We drove around the lake Saturday night to see what it was like.
Sunday afternoon, Heath took Mason to the store to pick out his own fishing pole,
and he was excited about fishing.

Then Sunday night we took chicken, fishing poles, and a Maci dog
back to the lake.
I was still unloading the truck...
then Heath yelled "Bring the Camera."
Mason had already caught his first fish on his new fishing pole.
Mason was determined to bring me the fish...
so he did not want to take a picture.
Mason loved reeling the line back.
The fish had to be real quick to catch his worm!

Another attempt at a picture with his fish.
The little fish would swim up close to the edge.
We threw bread in so Mason could watch the fish.
Big Throw.

Time for Maci Dog's big swim.
Mason thought this was funny!
Our wet rat....all you could see was
her head and tail.
Besides fishing,
Mason liked climbing on all the rocks and
throwing rocks in the water.

Letter "D" and Number "1"

D is for Duck.
Gluing the beak.
He wanted to draw shapes on one duck.
He asked me to draw an octagon.
Mason's duck.
Then we had a dinosaur dig.
I hid dinosaurs in the rice so Mason could find them.
Found a dinosaur!
Plus, we are working on the Number 1 this week.

Swimming Lessons.

We put Mason in swimming lessons this summer.
It is neat to see what all his age can do in the water.
He can swim under the water through a hula
hoop (with you holding his hands).
He can jump in and go under.
He jumped off the diving board.
He can dive...he sits on his knees,
puts his little hands up, and
the teacher helps guide him the water.
He went down the big slide all by his self.
He wasn't a fan of back floats, but he did it a couple times.
He likes to kick.
Kicking.

Jumping off the hippo.
Jumping off the diving board...most of the time he jumped without any help.
